Words from Elizabeth Brittman

Thoughts in fond remembrance of Nick Carter…

Nick did not see, could not see, his own greatness….
never, for one moment, considering himself a hero.
He would come to the aide of another no matter the distance,
no matter the circumstance….
others before self, no matter the sacrifice, always.
Even the smallest compliment he would decline, deferring acknowledgement or praise to those he loved throughout his life.

Nick so often would make a statement,
a few seemingly simple words put together…
That were so poignant, honest and self revealing.
To hear these words from Nick Carter was to receive something “sacred”,
(I know, he would probably dislike use of that term in regard to himself),
But truly sacred none the less…they have left an indelible mark.

His bright eyes conveyed the depth and breadth of his journey.
Twinkling…as he spoke about his love for Deanna, angel on Earth and about his mother for whom his gratitude and devotion was immeasurable…
Glinting…as he spoke about cherished friendships far and near…
And then other moments his eyes would bear out those things he would not say, holding close in his heart profound grief.

Without knowing and without intending Nick deeply touched those who knew him. The very presence of his person, authentic and genuine, is rare to come by in this life. The World is indeed dimmer for his passing.

I am ever thankful for the blessing and honor to have known Nick.
Thank you Cynthia for gifting us all with your son.

Photo Album

I made a Picasa album of all the pictures that were sent to me a few months ago. Please feel free to send me more pictures and I can include them on this album. Click the photo on the blog post below to see all the pictures.

Thank you to everyone who sent me pics. If you have captions for any of these you want me to add, please email me, describe which picture and what you'd like the caption to say and I'll do my best to add those when I can.

Thanks,

Wes

"Gratitude Is The Memory Of The Heart"
An extra special thank you to Nathan Schouest and Tom Nolin.  Nick's memorial service
in California would not have been complete without your eloquent speeches that honored
the epitome of who Nick was as a person, friend, son and life partner.  We are forever
grateful for your moving tributes to Nick's life.
With Love,
Cynthia and Deanna

Heartfelt Thank You

“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”

Our intentions were to mail out individual “Thank you” cards to all who have been there for us.  Unfortunately, due to printing and copying problems, we soon realized it was not an option.  We first tried to print them out on our home printer which was unsuccessful.  Then Cynthia went to Staples for help with it.  It took 2 hours to finally get the card right, and after that their printer jammed and they told her they would not be able to do it at all.  So we figured the best way to send our gratitude to everyone would be to post our Thanks on the website where everyone could see it.
First, we’d like to thank everyone who helped get Nick Malone on a flight out to New York to be with us.  We could not have done any of this without him.
Nick, you were extremely instrumental in making all of the arrangements for Nick’s service out in California.  You not only helped facilitate everything but you also guided us through a very emotional time.
We’d also like to send our thanks to the Schouest Family who provided the obituary for Nick.  You did a wonderful job honoring him.  To Ellen, thank you for your guidance and support.
Having Nick’s Memorial Website has been a blessing; it is so nice to see how Nick has made an impact on others’ lives, thank you Wes.  We have received many compliments about how wonderful that there is a place where others can share their stories and pictures of Nick.
Emily and Cory, thank you so much for setting up and maintaining Nick’s Memorial Fund to help Cynthia and I defer costs.  Thank you also for opening up your home to family and friends while we were in California.
To all who donated, every dollar has helped and is continuing to help us through these tough times.  Thank you for your generosity.
We’d also like to thank Shalia for helping with the cost of the hotel rooms for our families while in California.  It was so nice of you to help us out, thank you.
Maureen, thank you for being with us and providing transportation to the funeral home and friend’s homes.
To “The Boys” thank you for creating the slideshow for Nick’s service and the website.  You did a beautiful job.  From the pictures to the music it was perfect.  It truly showed who Nick was, thank you.
Rick and Bunny, thank you for opening your home to family and friends after Nick’s service.  Your home was Nick’s “home away from home.”  He always felt welcomed as do we.  Thank you for your hospitality.
Our thanks go out to the Gourmet Pizza Shoppe for hosting a wonderful fundraiser in Nick’s honor.  You made it a great success, thank you so much.
Nick, Lauren, and Cindy thank you for helping take care of our puppies while we were away.  It was so nice knowing that they were in good hands.
Thank you to Dave for going to the VA hospital with us.  It was great to have the extra support.
To all our NY friends, thank you for traveling from all over to come be with us every day until we left for the services in California.  It meant so much to have all of you with us.  Also, thank you all for the donations, it has and continues to help us.
Deanine, you did so much to help get everything in order for Nick’s service.  You lifted a heavy weight off us with all that you did.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Jimmy thank you for creating the slideshow of Nick’s life.  You did a wonderful job.  It was so nice being able to watch it and put it on the memorial website to have others enjoy it as well.
To the Fanning, Calamis, Benedetto, Murphy, and Sinisgalli families thank you.  The prayer cards and donations have brought us much comfort in this tough time.  Your continued support and love has been a blessing.
To everyone who shared their wonderful photos of Nick, thank you.  It is great seeing all the pictures throughout Nick’s life.
To Deanna’s bosses, Al and Doreen, and coworkers at GMGC thank you for your support and donations.  It is so nice to know I have such wonderful people surrounding me and helping Cynthia and I.
Also a special thank you goes out to Nick and his dad for plowing our street after the blizzard so friends and family could attend Nick’s Memorial here in New York.
To everyone, thank you so much for your love, support, and generosity during this difficult time.  Your thoughtfulness and prayers has given us strength and is greatly appreciated.

With Sincere Gratitude,
Cynthia & Deanna

Memorial - Celebration Of Life In New York To Honor Nick

On Thursday, December 30, 2010 Deanna and Cynthia opened their home
to Nick and Deanna's friends and family for a celebration of Nick's life.
The house was packed with amazing friends and family, which once again
reinforces how much Nick is admired and loved.  Many expressed how
Nick has had and still continues to have a positive and influential part
in their lives.
